  Aurora Plains Academy is an intensive residential treatment facility located in Plankinton South Dakota.  The Academy is a LLC of Clinicare Corporation from Milwaukee Wisconsin.  Since 1967, Clinicare has been a leader in behavioral and mental health care.  Their mission is to successfully meet the needs of a changing society.  The fondation and core of the clinical programs have been formed through 30 plus years of experience.  Clinicare Corporation also operates academies in Eau Claire, Milwaukee, and Prairie du Chien Wisconsin. 

Aurora Plains Academy was established in January 2007 after Clinicare Corporation responded to a request for proposal.  The site in Plankinton has a storied past, but the Academy has focused on the future to provide innovative therapeutic services to the population it serves.

Aurora Plains Academy provides intensive residential treatment within a safe and secure environment.  Our staff are committed to instilling and modeling respect for self and others, self-esteem, positive interaction with peers, and a sense of fair play.  It is the philosophy of the Academy that all youth are deserving of therapeutic treatment and education and that all youth are individuals with individual needs.  Academy staff will guide all youth through our comprehensive programs to provide each resident the opportunity to be successful in completing their individualized treatment programs so they may become positive and productive community members.

  Aurora Plains Academy Code of Ethics

  • Respect and protect the civil rights and legal rights of all residents and their parent/guardians.
  • Serve each resident with concern for the resident’s welfare and with no purpose of personal gain.
  • Encourage relationships with colleagues of such character to promote mutual respect within the profession and improvement of its quality of service.
  • Respect the significance of all elements of the justice and human services systems and cultivate a professional cooperation with each segment.
  • Respect and consider the right of the public to be safeguarded from juvenile delinquency.
  • Be diligent in their responsibility to record and make available for review any and all information, which could contribute to sound decisions affecting a resident or the public safety
  • Report without reservation any corrupt or unethical behavior, which could affect a resident or the integrity of the facility.
  • Maintain the integrity of private information and not seek personal data beyond that needed to perform their responsibilities, nor reveal case information to anyone not having    proper professional use for such.
  • Abide by all federal, state, and local laws and Aurora Plains Academy policy and standards.
  • Prohibit the use of an oficial position to secure privileges or advantages.
  • Make statements critical of colleagues or their facility unless these are verifiable and constructive in purpose.
  • Permit personal interest to impair the objectivity, which is to be maintained in their official capacity.
  • Accept any gift or favor that implies an obligation that is inconsistent with the free and objective exercise of professional responsibilities.
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with residents residing in the facility.  An inappropriate relationship can include but is not limited to; bribery, solicitation or acceptance or gifts, favors, or services from residents or their families, etc...
  •  Not discriminate against any employee, prospective employee, resident, provider, or parent  on the basis of age, race, sex, creed, disability, or national origin.
  • Engage in behaviors which misuse fiscal or business office practices or materials belonging to the facility including but not limited to; falsifying time sheets, theft or misuse of office, use of facility property for personal use, and use of personal affects or funds belonging to a resident.
  • Will not have a substantiated case of abuse or neglect or exploitation on record. 
  • Will not interfere with or hinder an abuse, neglect, exploitation internal investigation.
  • Neither deliver into nor remove from the ground of the facility any item or contraband and shall not exercise possession or control of any item of contraband while on facility grounds.
  • Will not provide service while under the influence of alcohol or other illegal drugs.

Cooperation- Working as a team through a multidisciplinary approach toward the common goal of treatment of youth.  As a facility, we work in conjunction with multiple departments using integrity, team, and collaboration as core concepts.
